Me, Myself, and I

Hey guys!

My name is Paige. I will be a sophomore next year, and I am double majoring in Cognitive Science and Psychology (BA) with a minor in Disabilities Studies.

Here’s a little bit about me!

1. I’m totally and completely and adrenaline junky! I went skydiving on my 18th birthday! (That’s me in the green)Image

2. I won a car when I was 16. Here’s my car and me with my best friend, Taylor.

3.There were definitely some hard times for me in high school, but I’m choosing to use those experiences to grow and become a stronger person.

“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired, and success achieved.” – Helen Keller

4. In high school, we had to choose a track to follow throughout all 4 years. I chose medical assisting, so I am now a certified clinical medical assistant! This is my class of fellow medical assistants who I spent all of high school with.

5.  I have done the Polar Bear Plunge (to benefit Special Olympics) 4 times. Nothing like freezing for a good cause! Yeah, that’s my little brother in the middle (who is like half a foot taller than me, and I’m 5’9!)

6. Call me a nerd, but in 7th grade, I memorized the first 77 digits of pi for fun!

7. I HATE ice cream with a passion

8.  I am halfway through the UD bucket list already! This is me high-fiving the dean of the Arts and Sciences college

dr george watson

9.  I’m pretty much obsessed with hoodies and jeans. I own 35 hoodies and 20 pairs of jeans.

10.  I’m pretty flexible since I used to dance. I always make sure to stretch so I don’t lose my flexibility!

So there’s some quick facts about me! Can’t wait to get to know everyone over the summer!

This is who I am

Writing has never been my strong suit.

Hence the reason I am currently studying nursing at the University of Delaware. With a mind strongly wired towards all things science-related and concrete, I tend to shy away from subjects that involve anything related to critical reading and writing (making this class seem like a taunting task).

The only writing I gravitate towards is whatever I put into my journaling. I love being able to document my experiences and thoughts of the present to be able to reflect on them in the future when they have become a part of my past.

Reflecting on such past experiences, here is what makes me who I am today as a person and a writer:

10. I have a deep passion for mission work. I have already been to the Bahamas and Haiti and will be making my way to the Dominican Republic this summer.

9. I would love to drop out of school to go live in one of these third world countries to live and grow in my faith (but my parents are not too thrilled with this idea and I’ll be much more useful with a degree in nursing).

8. Voted “most likely to be a hippie” by my freshman floor, I tend to march to the beat of my own drum with a free spirit.

7. Regardless of this free spirit, as the oldest of four children, my motherly instincts tend to take over and instill responsibility into my soul.

6. Dance has and always will be a part of me.

5. Blogs like PostSecret and Humans of New York consume a lot of my free time.

4. As does Netflix.

3. Photography allows me to express in ways that my writing abilities don’t allow me.

2. I own more books than I could ever possibly read, but I’m trying.

1. I live to find beauty in the broken.

Writing may not be my strong suit, but this is who I am.

Current State of Self

As motor programs control my fingers to push buttons that display letters which comprise the words you are now reading,  I am in London finishing the final leg of my European backpacking trip  Having just completed my first year at UC Berkeley,  I am taking this course to fulfill a college requirement and hopefully unleash my inner writer.

Now I have always secretly wanted to be a writer. Of course like all the sub par dreamers of the world, I have not followed through. This is somewhat unsurprising since I haven’t always been what some people like to call a “doer”. I don’t really know why anyone would exactly want to be labeled a “doer” since the connotation elicits images of back allies and lines of coke.  But recently I have had the urge to be more than a planner. So perhaps this compulsion will become something more.

I generally hate talking about myself. Most developmental psychologists would agree that by the age of four kids have a conceptual understanding of themselves. Given that in theory I have had an abstraction of myself for fifteen years, one would think that I would have mastered the art of telling people who I am. Unfortunately I have not. That being said I think I can muster up a brief list of descriptive facts.

1. I love to travel. I like to see how people and interactions change and mold over distance.

2. I am always working on some “artistic” project. So far I have made a life size sculpture, a four minute documentary etc.

3. I was voted most likely to become a unicorn by my floor mates.

I hope you can see me.
I just got done  drinking apple cinnamon tea

I am a sophomore,
but when I wheel through the door,
in the fall. I will be a grade higher.
so you can admire.

I am not doing much this summer,
but I did not want to get dumber.

I am  a disc jockey
but that can get rocky
because I do not  drink
but I do play ice hockey on  a  rink.

I love when I get to talk,
because I can not walk,
to well
but I am still happy and swell .

As you see i like poetry,
this is me,.

When I write  I like to be crea-tive
and live
through the  words I say
because I use  a voice recognition software
because if not my Eyes and fingers ware
away
but I am here to stay.

I am willing to learn
hopefully we can turn my ways
what I say in my head flow on paper and sometimes make it a maze
because when you say something it might sound right
but does not flow tight
my paper might be an endless stream of words
which might make my papers look like turds

I am looking forward to your struc-ture
in your lec-ture
i  can not wait to learn more
and i am excited to see what is in store.

Ten things about me

Hi everyone, my name is Morgan Windish!  I am currently an incoming sophomore at UD and I am majoring in Communications with a minor in Psychology and love UD.

I have been horseback riding and showing competitively since I was three years old! I have had my current horse, Eye Spy, for almost five years now and he is basically like my child.  His favorite treat is coffee and I regularly have to share my dunkin donuts coffee with him or else I  will get mauled.

A Walk in My Life

Hi everyone, I am going to be a senior finance major at the University of Delaware this upcoming fall. I grew up in northern New Jersey with one younger sister, and two dogs that were always good company. My freshman year I went to Louisiana State University (LSU), and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. The football games were definitely my favorite part, and they are so much different then the ones here at UD. Besides the fact that you can actually tailgate these games, people would be up by 8AM to prepare for the 7PM game. Along with the early mornings, there was an unbelievable amount of school spirit. Everyone comes together from all walks of life, just for those crazy Saturday afternoons. Although I wound up transferring from there, it opened up my eyes to such a different culture that is still here in the United States. Growing up I was a three sport athlete, so I did not always have the time to go visit such places. Since my freshman year I have definitely become more embracing of all different walks of life, from my Polish Heritage, to taking two semesters of German here at Delaware. Oddly enough I am actually writing this post from München (Munich), Germany, as I prepare to go to a family wedding this upcoming weekend. I am extremely excited for this class because I have not taken a composition class in a few years now, and I feel like I have become much more creative since then. Hopefully this class will give me the opportunity improve my writing skills, while allowing me to express some of my new-found and cultured interests.

I write.

Every day I write something. I think best when I write. Sometimes I write things just to practice how to say, think, or do them.

  2. letters. by hand. to my grandmother. she does not have a computer.
  3. essays. essays. essays. research essays. reflection essays. exam essays.
  4. newspaper articles. i was an aspiring journalist during my high school days.
  5. text messages. why does calling someone feel like so much work?
  6. cover letters. resumes. cvs. resignation letters. new cover letters. resumes. cvs. that job market!
  7. recipes. transcribed really. i love to cook from a 3×5 notecard.
  8. announcements. i’m getting married! we’re having a baby! i’m going back to school, again!
